Finnish companies have expressed readiness to cooperate with Iranian Mines, Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) to expand cooperation in the sector.
According to an IMIDRO report, industry officials from Finland and Iran attended a congress in Tehran to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the mining sector between the two countries. The congress will seek to introduce the capacities of major Finnish and Iranian companies in the fields of mines and mining industries to prepare the ground for investment. Senior Finnish officials, including Petri Peltonen, director general of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy as well as Mika Nykanen, head of Geological Survey (GTK) attended the gathering. The officials exchanged views on exploration, mining, energy and machinery development in the two countries. Officials from Finnish companies of GTK, Metso, Outotec, Poyry, Mining Finland, Haarla, SISU, Sleipner and Millisecond attended the one-day conference. IMIDRO is a major state-owned holding company involved in the mining sector. It has several major companies and dozens of operational subsidiaries active in steel, aluminum, copper, cement and mineral exploitation fields.
